In 2018, Upholstery on Broadway was proud to be a part of the beautiful restoration of the Colonial Theatre in Boston Massachusetts; where our crew upholstered the railings and foot rails. The Colonial first opened in 1900. The first performance was Ben-Hur featuring eight live horses for the Chariot scene. We were faced with many challenges on site including, maneuvering around other contractors,  as well as avoiding stage hands for the current running show “Moulin Rouge”. We were glad that we only had to work around props rather than live horses and chariots!

  • For those looking for upholstery services, check out Upholstery on Broadway. I just had a 50 year old chair, (the last time it was reupholstered was in 1986, a few cats ago) reupholstered by them, and could not be happier with the outcome. Great fabric selection, advice and consultation, and a beautiful result. Turnaround in less than 3 weeks! Pamela Powell and Kevin Kennedy are both knowledgeable and passionate about their craft, and provide great service.

  • What a great experience. Got new filling for 6 sofa cushions. The added wrinkle was I wanted them to be very firm. Never realized that would make the job much more challenging. Kevin turned the order around in just 2 days. He kept at it, making house calls to plan his adjustments, until the sofa looks better than new. Total elapsed time? 6 days. He couldn't be nicer or more conscientious. I recommend him enthusiastically. And he was 25% less expensive than his larger competitor.

  • I came by the Upholstery studio the other day with a dog eaten cushion of our very new couch. Kevin was a extremely gracious and friendly. He offered to sew up the cushion right there on the spot while I waited. I followed his advice to do a quick job since there was a chance or darling doggy might strike again. He fixed it up well enough and now you can't tell there was ever a crime committed. I was struck by Kevin's friendliness and generosity and he even came out of the shop to meet the waiting doggy in the car! We will definitely be back to the shop for future projects.

  • Kevin re-upholstered our curved kitchen bench, which I imagine was quite a challenge as it's an unusual, custom piece. He did a fantastic job and gave great advice on what types of fabric patterns would best suit this shape. He also kindly picked up the bench from our home (we are not far from his shop), which was a huge help as it saved us renting a van to bring it in. The prices were reasonable and the turnaround was really quick. I highly recommend Upholstery on Broadway and will certainly be returning next time I have need of an upholstery job.
